The biggest problem for Europe is. Factories are getting limited by environmental regulations. Which is not the case in China. And thus the production of parts is going to be made somewhere not Europe. And I get it. It’s a money game. You can look up the TaTa steel debacle here in the Netherlands. It’s a mess. So I think the cores are made in China and machined in Europe and then sold to the world. Or maybe directly from China.

There needs to be more companies committed to making original parts like Wolfsburg West. I work primarily on 60’s and 80’s Hondas and on the 1980 Honda Civic owners manual the first damned page says “parts these days are not what they used to be” to the CONSUMER directly in 1980. I can only imagine now. Man don’t check AutoZone stock prices, makes me think they’re a front 😂 but to answer your question the only real feedback parts manufacturers get are returns or warranty or defect claims. Since doing that affects their wallet, if they see the same part with a goofy amount of warranties or returns they either discontinue and revise that part or switch suppliers.

I am 35 years old, I had plenty of VW beetle's from 16 to about 22-23 years old, a couple of years ago I bought another one and the "Primitiveness" of it hit me immediately, it had been at least 10-12 years since I had one and I got used to the creature comforts of modern cars, I had to sell it due to a back injury that made it really hard to drive stick. I defenitely want to get back in one but as a 2nd or weekend car.

Very helpful. What size staples did you use? I got the arrow T50 like you suggested, but it comes with quarter inch, 3/8 inch, and half inch. Also, you gave the measurement from the back body bow to the window bow, and then the measurement from the main to the rear tubular bow, but you did not give the measurement from the rear window bow to the main. That would be very helpful. Otherwise great job so far I’m only on the headliner!

Is there a trick to getting the old intake manifold copper gaskets out of the head i am afraid to gouge the head if i use something like a dental tool to pry them out or is that the only way? thanks

Do you think the old style seal is better? And, can you use it on a later model instead? I just purchased a new one for my super. I agree 100 % with the info. Thanks for sharing this important info. I drive 50,000 miles a year in my beetle....I drive stock, and I never have problems. Even through death valley and Vegas with it 118 degrees never have trouble. The design of the engine is built to handle extremes. The main thing that caused trouble with people are not driving stock, shifting to early and lugging the engine, and not keeping an eye on there timing being correct. Also with ethanol gas now it's important to open carb jet up to around 1.30 instead of 1.25 that way the engine doesn't run to lean. Thanks for all your do Chris. Great videos!!!!

Chris I am in Chicago got a 72 super. When I use 10w30 car runs hot I stitch to 20w50 and it keeps better and oil pressure starts an 80 and goes down to 20. Is this an issue of concern. It has 87 k miles. Don't know if the engine was redone. Hard to find mechanic in chicago. Thanks for your time and opinion.
